I'm planning a trip to an auction at Sotheby's in June. I have a real interest in British art of the 20th century, and they have a sale by auction of art provided. I spent much time in the planning of the trip.

While I was shipping the Sotheby's online store, I found that a signed Sickert called South facade of St. Jacques. I saw this painting once in London in 1971. It is since the purchase at the same time the Canada.

The painting is intended to be painted around 1900 after the artist in the city of Dieppe two years. He found much beauty in this medieval place. He loved architecture and has been the subject of much of his work. Sotheby's has several pieces of his work for the auction on this event.

Also, I noticed in the catalogue at the Sotheby's auction will be of a watercolour of a cat of artist Gwen John. They have painted many portraits of seated women and cats. She was known for painting of the same image again and again as Monet did.

There was another property mentioned in the catalogue of the Sotheby that interests me. I'm really partial to Sickert and there was a painting which he completed in Venice, while he was there with his wife. There are stories of problems marriage between them and is considered the trip to Venice have been taken to recover from their marriage.

I look forward to see painting Thunder in the mountains by James Dickson Innes. His watercolours are really wonderful. The painting is regarded as his painted in 1910 in the mountains of North Wales. Sotheby's has such an extensive catalogue for this auction.

I look forward to my trip to London. I love auction Sotheby's art and go to expensive restaurants in the night. I plan to go the mango tree, while I'm there. This is the best Thai cuisine, hands down, that I have ever eaten.

My business partner is really taken with the landscape near Lyon, painted by Sir Matthew Smith. I also found this painting in oil. Catalogue of the Sotheby reported that the painting was made in 1922 and that there is a still life of flowers on the back. My partner will not be able to provide for this trip and asked me to provide for him.

I have a small private collection of pencil drawings. I loved the flower in a glass vase that was written by Christopher Wood in 1925. I think that it with of other beautiful nature which would display. I think that this art of good pencil for twelve thousand dollars can go. My favorite all pencil drawings found at Sotheby's auction

I have a boss who is very interested in much on the Sotheby auction that poppies by Ivon Hithchens. They took me to a bid to sixty five thousand dollars for his licence. I hope that I managed to acquire for her. I know that this Sotheby auction is present because they are all. It's too much to hope that nobody saw this fantastic painting.

After looking forward to this trip for so long and student Sotheby's catalogue as carefully, I must say that I put my heart on Broomswade by John Piper. I absolutely must this watercolour. The person who sells is the sole owner. He buys directly from John Piper in 1966. If I win nothing, I earn this painting.

Only another painting that I plan to bid at Sotheby's auction is by William Turnbull. There is a collector I know who wants desperately to this painting. He is the owner of several of these images by the artist and is now started to collect his paintings.

Is really a beautiful thing when we know how much take us our appreciation of art, what volumes speaks of our culture and the cultures that make up the world, as well as our own. It is very fashionable to understand something of what art is, how it attempts to reinterpret our own region in the world to the artistic level and however reveals a large part of the human nature behind its creation. Artistic spirit of today is not different in the development of ideas on the surface of a painting, and some have similar qualities to these works of art considered classics have had in the past.

There is a particularly unique overview of a lot of contemporary art, or at least the label appears to include works by today, with some vagueness resulting from the lack of a school of thought dominant or ideology. Contemporary art much more enter in the 1960s, most of the works of art could easily be defined by specific advance details, and there were these preferences even trends during the 1980s. Later confirmed the modernist period of art, a large part of the address became very disparate during periods of social and political change, and many art awards have been greatly aflojados.

With some critical comments denouncing the current contemporary art which has no "beauty", was known critic Donald Kuspit say that art had left the Studio and found his ' Street and which may not be a large part of the evil with the effect of many lines currently blur. Today, contemporary art seems to reflect the world's problems, and the emphasis on the policy seems to have intensified recently. The change of an ideal of beauty and purity of drawing to a full oppose by the socially-oriented inspiration of art and often crosses the boundaries of appropriate means.

Although this is where it begins argument stops and speculation that critics and artists feels on where the line is particularly between different categories of thought and has been different every movement of art pieces is re-evaluated in order similar to find that place wayin which crosses between art, the artist and the public and creates a means for everyone share space in the overall concept to the enlightenment. The points gap between art and life more smaller and create new ways to understand the forms of things see us around.

Participation of the mass culture affecting the limits of perception of the formation of the world, as we know, and today there are many schools and studies of contemporary art in their efforts to help shape the practice of contemporary art which translates relevant questions in the futurethat allows us to glimpse introspective in the thoughts of the artist. Creation of interconnection which defies and defines what laws and life may continue to restrict analyze it and define more itself as several entities in a completely different from the sum of its "parties."

When all of this information, while in may seem overwhelming at first, but art is not impossible to understand if they are concentrated in the understanding of what your tastes. When you do not see these things, it is easy to forget the value of what they buy and is possible that you cannot get the most out of what you want to spend. There are a few lessons that they have no explicit conditions something but must reach out to what makes a call with a frugal mood still open, can be much easier to find a cheap with this state of mind by hand.

Synchronization may sometimes be necessary to make the more lucrative business for the buyer, and with few auctions of art, it may be difficult to find that some reasons start bid. But with studious attention to what you want your ultimate goal is, and if he will have found a way to buy at least some kind of fax for their efforts. Depending on how deeply you want to participate in activities such as works by contemporary artists visionados premises and perhaps even find a way to see the torment of the creativity of the Interior, to be friends with local artists and network.

There are a large number of pieces representing this particular group of art seems false to believe, but it is located be on the increase as more enter the new millennium and make the skins of our culture and new bloodshed. Grotesque illustrations leads us to the human form in which we have babies and they really seem to give us an idea of who we are reaffirming. There are a lot of artists, although some of the other artistic movements, which have shown to meet the criteria of this grouping of concepts.

Grotesque art of range of varying degrees of mood and theme, but they always seem to get out the factors that are considered by most to be taboo or dark in nature, adhering to some of the most brutal events and reflection on the history. All these things are come together to create a set of works that go between specific times, but they appear to be related to each other in the object they represent, creation of works that define morbid attentions we seems to have in our history as a whole.

Through the works of famous artists such as Picasso, Goya, the light in the darkness of our human condition may be communicated, and these reflections of our culture are the seeds for the future, as the culture evolved. Many different movements appear to give their own touch to consider these unique models of work and the object of horror and terror can be interpreted by my different people in many ways, whether today or some was even more behind. For some cultures, it is a way to evacuate the fear and express it without damage to emotional health.

Although moral it may seem too binding today, there are still points where society converge in points to break past the emotional barriers to the construction of many people, and this art is a mirror to evoke an honest reflection of reaction looking gazes at backa response that does not reproduce any other form. These images more than affect the rest of the world today, as it can be heard in several recent dimensions in music and even topics are located in the attraction of today for the films of horror and novels that sell more than ever today.

It is when they are considered as artists, owned by a certain vision, which evokes the pain, and passion with other contradictions in life, and, then, is that they can be learned in equal measure of historical works of value such as Jérôme Boschdrawings and even modern models of h. r. Giger. Preferences for breaking taboos imposed by their environment, he helped guide that steps towards the future of our acceptance and recognition of our world and the layers of depth we can be revealed when taking the time to find that these items appeal to the sense of artistic value.

For the control of your knowledge of this type of works of art can better equip you to find that he worked for the individual who would be more enthusiastic about itself, and although the majority of the most famous works can be purchased only as impressionsThere are still many artists who practice a style that comes to this thin layer on the surface which reveals more visceral lower layer. When the search for a job suited to their tastes, great respect should be given to those who seek to translate his thoughts in canvas, and you can get a better understanding of this category of art when he approached with an open mind.

Today, some works by the artist Joe Coleman recently have borders, and it will be many preconceived ideas of artistic broken. His approach is to use a single horse hair and detail brush so fine you can find several layers after seeing paintings and prints of dozens of times, creating a new perspective on it with each display consecutive work. It is these qualities in the artists who still seek to reveal information about the nature of which is to be human and allows us to come into contact with parts of ourselves back previously unknown or held.

Their unique eggs

2:43 PM

Their eggs were always special for me. I was looking in to the auction of art was already in my twenties. I have a role of the term of the Faberge society and its history of production of eggs for the tsars of Russia between 1885 and 1917.

The first Fabergé egg I've never found in an auction of art was really quite by chance. The egg of their non-was one of the advertised items and was actually a bottle of topper. Instantly, he falls in love with it and won the auction of art for $100.

I saw a tropical advertising for a Fabergé egg of a collection of St. Petersburg. It was established that the sale in an auction of art in New York. I knew that I would buy it not, but I wanted to see in person and at least a lower bid.

The tropical Faberge egg in the auction of art in New York has finished sale for more than six thousand dollars. Is my price range, but I am happy to only have been in the same room with this masterpiece. Own eggs are most exciting to be close.

The first egg from Fabergé in 1885. I know that it never gets in the auction of art, but I hope that you will see a day in a statement. The first was commissioned by Tsar Alexander III and his wife as a gift for Easter. The surprise within the egg is a chicken gold medal in a yellow of gold. The chicken had a small Crown with a Ruby hanging inside.

The eggs of their Russian former I found recently at an auction of art was so detailed. Silver Egg enamel has Ruby and eagles and is marked with stamps Faberge. I could win this egg because I was to bid with money from another person. The best eggs always end with the rich people.

Exhibit I want in my collection is an authentic Lillies of the Valley of its eggs. I found one at a sale at auction of art that I went to ten years. I have not been able to purchase which I have seen, because he had no money in time. I've saved I see another.

The zinnias that egg is covered in beads and pale pink enamel. The egg is a booth with Matt Green Gold leaves with pink pink legs. The rod of gold zinnias have leaves frozen Greens and flowers Pearl. This egg searched each auction of art never attend.

This egg their charm. It is crowned with an Imperial Crown of roses crystals. There is a Pearl button which reveals the surprise in this egg. The surprise is portrait miniature of Tsar Nicolas II and his two older daughters. The portraits are framed in crystals of roses and supported with panels of gold. I heard a rumor that there will be the year in the auction of art next to Miami.

The last auction of art that I bought a Faberge called clover Imperial eggs. For my personal collection and won by less than $50,000. I felt as if it was a robbery at this price.

The egg of their imperial clover was originally an in four leaf clover that had portraits of the four daughters of Nicholas and Alexandra. The portraits were missing during the Russian Revolution. The egg that I bought at the auction of art had a quality vertical shamrocks of the stem. Two clubs in green enamel and the third, a four-leaf clover, was made in diamonds. In life we keep seeing funny events. We come across events that do not make sense and still happen in life. These events add spice in our life as we all need humor and jokes to live a happy life.

Real life is full of stress. We need some relaxing moments to enjoy it. It is said that art is making something extraordinary out of the ordinary. In the same way, to ward off boredom in their lives people come up with lots of items to entertain themselves. For example, entertainment forms like drama, cinema, music and dance were born out of the human desire to enjoy themselves. Comedy and humor was devised specially for the amusement of humans. Artists and comedians give pleasure to people by making them laugh and have fun.

Comedy is a great element of entertainment. It can manifest itself in the form of drama, fiction, stand-up comedy or a humorous drawing. Comedy showcases funny things of a particular situation. Finding humor in an ordinary situation is a great art in itself. Satire writers describe comical or funny situations in words. A piece of satire can be a thought-provoking topic for readers. The world has seen some great satirists like Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain and Rudyard Kipling. Great satire wring includes Rudyard Kipling's "Animal Farm" and "Gulliver's Travels" by Jonathan Swift.

Jokers in circus provide funny moments to people and make them laugh. Their kind of comedy is mostly situational. They create a ridiculous situation which makes people laugh. Graphical description of funny things or events is also very popular. People, who draw funny things or situations, are known as cartoonists. It takes a lot of creativity and hard work to be able to draw a good piece of cartoon. When a graphic artwork describes any funny situation or a person then it is known as a cartoon. However, when a funny drawing shows a man's funny physical features only then it is known as a caricature.

The Craft (Special Edition)If Buffy the Vampire Slayer represents the lighter side of high school as a macabre experience, here's a movie that asks the burning question, "What happens when angst-ridden teenagers develop supernatural powers?" More to the point, how do four outcast teenaged witches handle their ability to cast wicked spells on the taunting classmates who've nicknamed them "The Bitches of Eastwick"? The answer, of course, is "don't get mad, get even." That's about all there is to this terminally silly movie, which makes up for its ludicrous plot by letting its young female cast have a field day as they indulge their dark fantasies. Fairuza Balk is enjoyable as the most wicked of the witches, and is therefore the focus of the film's most dazzling special effects. But it's Neve Campbell from television's Party of Five who made this film a modest box-office hit, just before she became her generation's fright-movie favorite in Scream and its popular sequel. --Jeff Shannon

After you have got over the initial lifestyle change when you baby starts to walk and becomes a real toddler, then you have to work out how to entertain them now. When babies are still crawling a lot of their entertainment is based around physical goals and achievements. As the parent of a walking child you are entering the phase of toddler art projects.

You may have thought that the whole idea of baby moving to solid foods created a mess, but trust me; a badly planned art project can create much more mess.

The success to toddler art projects is all in the planning. There are several areas to consider.

Length of time

Toddlers have a very short concentration span. If you choose something which will take a long time to set up and then your child wanders off after two minuets it can be very frustrating. Do not plan anything which requires prolonged periods of concentration; if you get fifteen minuets at a time you are doing very well.

What supplies are needed?

A child looks at the world very differently. To them the difference between a tub of glue and a tub of paint is only the color and the box. Whatever art supplies you present to your toddler you should assume will end up in the bin. Do not hope to be able to get them out time and time again. To minimise waste was be sure to decant anything you want to use into empty yogurt pots or other similar sized cartons.

Control how much they use at one time

If you do not want the entire art project supplies tipped into the glue and stirred into a pretend soup then you need to only present one or two arts and crafts supplies at a time. For example the glue and some glitter. It does not matter if these two get mixed up, and they are controllable.

How to prepare for you toddler art projects

First buy lots of cheap colored card. Cut this is to lots of different designs such as butterflies, bumble bees, flowers, boats and other simple shapes. Get a big cardboard box and keep these shapes in there. Use this box to collect your yogurt pots for paints as well. It is worth keeping other small items which may prove useful such as plastic bottle tops and corrugated cardboard (these are free and great for sticking onto projects).

On those rainy days when distraction is needed and needed instantly, simply go to your box, pull out a shape, dollop a spoon of glue into one yogurt put and a spoon of paint into another and you have an instant toddler art project. It couldn't be easier.

Of course there will be cleaning up.... But this shouldn't be too bad. You can invest in toddler overalls, however this is not necessary. I have found that by far the most efficient way to protect your kids during art projects is with oversized t-skirts. Ask around the mothers you know who have older children and ask them to keep any old t-shirt (aged about two years older than your child) and you simply put these on over your kids day clothes and they will literally cover them from neck to knees.

So embrace this new developmental phase and you will both have great fun with some well prepared for toddler art projects.

Art is such a simple term but it is difficult to define. To a child, art is drawing and coloring. For celebrities, art is acting and entertaining. For designers, art is trend and fashion. The definition of art can be very objective.

Different sectors have their own definition of art. They have various standards too. For a mother, the drawings of her children are works of art. For museums, art is the genuine creation of a significant artist in the past.

Just like its definition, its significance also varies. There are various forms of art today, and each is important to the artist involved. A good example is a musician. Music is a good example of art. That is why singers are called artists. For a songwriter, each song has a story that he wants the people to hear. For most writers, this is very personal.

For various artists, art is way of expressing themselves. You may have seen an abstract oil painting, although you cannot recognize the patterns and strokes of the artists, it is very important for the painter. For him, it represents his emotion and his character. It can symbolize his anger and frustration. However, it can also represent his love and compassion. Anyone who sees it can also use it to represent how they feel. Strokes and colors can evoke certain emotions from other people. This is why most people want to buy pieces of artwork.

For others, it represents their dreams. The television today has produced several competitions that opened the doors for various dreamers. There are dancers across the country who lined up to audition because all their life they wanted to dance in front of an audience who appreciates what they can do. Many have gone to school to enhance their skills so that they can be among the best dancers in the world.

Like music, dancing is a form of art that can evoke various feelings. Aside from love, dances can also evoke sensuality, excitement, fun, passion, anger, and happiness. Art here is more than entertainment and talent. It is more of touching people lives through their moves and choreography.

Today, art also symbolizes comfort. You can see art in many beautiful and comfortable homes. Interior designers are also artists in many ways. They match things to provide a wonderful space for their client. Seeing the overwhelming reactions of their clients gives them satisfaction. To them, that is the most rewarding feeling.

Art has also transcended in foods. Many cooks and chefs have proven this. Some maybe predictable but others are like the abstract oil painting. You do not care what is in there as long as you like the taste. For them, being able to feed and satisfy their customers is all that matters.

Art is very significant in today's generation. Since it has taken various forms, it has earned the respect of almost all the artists. Musicians respect their instruments. Painters respect their brushes, paints, and canvass. And, chefs respect their ingredients and utensils.

Art is significant because of the sense of fulfillment an artist feels every time he finishes a masterpiece.

When we were kids, our parents made it a point to expose us to a lot of things. They made us sing, dance ballet, act, play instruments, join art classes and many more. Our exposure to arts and entertainment deviate our attention from the structured lessons we learn in class. Aside from developing our cognitive abilities, it is important that we work in honing our creativity and motor skills. Being a well-rounded person is a good thing. It allows us to adjust to our environment and relate well to our peers.

Arts and entertainment covers a broad area, it includes music, literature, television, theater, visual arts and many more. It is everything that stimulates what we see, what we feel and what we hear. The people who came before us left beautiful masterpieces, which should inspire us to do better.

At present, modernization has paved the way of doing the impossible. People are driven to achieve more because things are one click away. Books are can be bought online, movies are available in DVD's and music updates are very accessible. Technology may have taken over, but it cannot be denied that everything that we have right now is a product of man's creativity. This is a good thing because a lot of young people are into it. They enjoy immersing themselves on what they see on TV and on listening to their favorite songs from their playlists. One of the artists that are loved by most of them is Jason Derulo.

A singer and a songwriter born in Miami, Jason Derulo has succeeded in making himself known in hit charts along with other famous performers. The songs that he released from his present album were a major hit that everyone is looking forward to his upcoming projects. His fans are excited to collect stuff like Jason Derulo "autographed" photos that they can keep as a memorabilia or post on their walls. In fact, most of them enjoy joining contests where they can show how much they love and enjoy his music. A big thanks to technology; these activities can be accessible to everyone who is willing to join in the craze.

So what's in stored for Jason Derulo for 2011? Lots! He will commence his year by going on tour internationally. He will begin in England on February 17, 2011 with a concert in Bournemouth which will be followed by a similar event in Wolverhampton on February 18, 2010. He will also be visiting Leeds, Derby, Manchester, Cardiff and London. I'm pretty sure the people in the United Kingdom are all excited to meet him. Ticket details and the schedule of his tours are readily available online. This way, fans who are interested to watch his concerts, will be kept updated. Attending his concerts will surely be fun and exciting, besides the fact that you get to see Jason Derulo in person, you will also hear him sing live!

The guy is just starting his career but everybody loves him already. The fans are hanging on to what he is going to offer in the near future and they don't doubt his capacity to exceed what he has already achieved.

In the shadows of New York City, just five miles and a seventeen minute train ride away, Newark, New Jersey has plenty to offer visitors, or the New York City tourist who chooses to visit or stay nearby at less expensive restaurants, and hotels.

This is not a city to spend a considerable amount of time in, but it's an excellent destination for a day trip or weekend getaway, or even for the budget conscious tourist looking for a place to stay when visiting NYC.

One of the nation's oldest cities, after Boston and New York, Newark was a thriving 19th-century industrial giant and at the turn of the century made huge investments in cathedrals, museums, parks, a major art deco train station, and other art deco architecture, that today stand as world class attractions.

Newark also has a good Subway system. The system is a subway-surface light rail line which runs underground downtown and above-ground in outlying areas. The line is 5.3 miles long and runs between Newark Penn Station and Grove Street in Bloomfield.

After World War II, similar to other urban U.S. cities where loss of manufacturing jobs and urban decay began to occur, Newark experienced similar decline that continued until it reached bottom with 1960s riots. Since then the city has been slowly climbing back.

While its churches, museums, schools and public buildings are certainly to be admired, they also are off the tax rolls and with brings an unusually high burden of tax exemption that has held back the pace Newark's revitalization programs.

Since the sixties, the city has made great strides forward with a major drop in street crime, a downtown that can be walked around, and the development of major downtown entertainment venues and hotels that bring to Newark an arena, a professional NHL Hockey team, a 6,200 seat minor league baseball stadium and a performing arts center with a concert hall and theatre that attracts the world's best performers. Coincident with the development of entertainment venues, office skyscrapers have risen as homes to corporate employers and jobs. These are all attractions that can be easily accessible by public transportation or car with plenty of safe, affordable downtown parking. The hub of rail transportation is the restored Penn Station, an art deco landmark, used by over 70,000 commuters per day.

Major Attractions Cherry Blossom Festival The second largest Cherry Blossom display in the Unites States with the National Cherry Blossom display in Washington, DC being the largest and usually occurs about two weeks earlier. Held in Branch Brook Park, there are over 2,700 cherry trees. The blossoms can be best enjoyed by a casual walk or picnic in the park. The cherry trees usually flower in the second and third weeks of April. This is a week long festival with many events including a 10K race, trolley bus tours, and family Day with Japanese cultural activities, including demonstrations on origami, bonsai, ikebana, and martial arts.

If the name didn't suggest it already, the Oxford Art Factory is a place known in Sydney for its...well, art. Don't drop in expecting to find crowds of mainstream teenyboppers and minimalistic chic: here, it's all about the creative side of life.

The Oxford Art Factory is a paradise for bands, visual artists, and anyone who's vibe is a little bit funky. Sporting a grungy, factory-style (it's not called the 'art factory' for nothing) of decor, this location can't really be called a bar: rather, it's home to the underground side of Sydney that chooses to embrace the new, the different, and the quirky. The walls are generally lined with art or exposed brick for an urban, underground vibe that can't be found anywhere else. The factory houses The Gallery (a space for artists to exhibit their work), The Art After Dark bar (for art lovers to come and meet new people as well as grab a drink), and The Live Art Space (for performances). The one thing that caught my eye when I went there was the glass cube that people can walk through or use as a live performance space: it surely was the most creative of anything I've ever seen at a night venue, and it certainly does make every patron stop and stare.

Of course, being a house for all things art, it's natural that the focus of the Oxford Art Factory is on live entertainment. At least four days of the week, you can expect to find bands rocking it out in the Live Art Space. From local to international performances, and dubstep to rock, Oxford Art doesn't discriminate. No matter what the occasion, before rocking up to this place make sure to check their upcoming events to find the entertainment playing that best suits you. As with all locations, there is also a dance floor but depending on the performance each night, it may range from a crazy dancing group to a mellow crowd who's just there to listen. Tickets have to be bought to events too, so check out the website before turning up for a band you like, or else you might not even get in to the event!

And on the subject of crowds, don't forget that the people who come to Oxford Art are largely a part of Sydney's art group. If you're anything like me (I can appreciate creativity but don't know enough to fit in perfectly here), you will spend most of the night feeling lost and confused, but at the same time, intrigued. The people that come here can sometimes seem a bit pretentious, but remember that it is Sydney's creme-de-la-creme venue as far as art is concerned. Just dash to the awesome bathrooms if the crowd gets to be too much - you'll find that the urban grunge extends far beyond just the rooms.

To sum up all of the Oxford Art Factory is near impossible: it's an experience that you just have to see to understand. Even if art and bands aren't your scene, give this nightclub a go...you might just be pleasantly surprised by what you find.

Pretty. Odd.

1:44 PM

Pretty. Odd.The title gives it away instantly- Pretty.Odd. (don't forget the periods) is not exactly the album that affirmed admirers of Panic At The Disco will have expected. The quartet, then teenagers, hit big in 2005 when A Fever You Can't Sweat Out rode its hit single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and its striking video to huge sales, defining their niche bridging emo and theatrical art-rock. Three years later Panic (they've ditched the exclamation mark) return with an expansive album that shamelessly, and very skilfully, takes inspiration directly from the Beatles' bigger budget productions and the baroque classic rock that came in their wake. They must use every instrument in the orchestral palette. But this is hardly a trip to "guilty pleasures" territory, four minute pop tunes polished almost to sterility. Even the catchy, imposing opener "We're So Starving", where they protest "we're still the same band", is playful rather than predictable. "That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)" offers so many styles it defies categorisation, the darkly comic sixties pastiche "When the Day Met the Night" could wear the vague "sunshine pop" label comfortably and the likes of "Pas De Cheval" and nicely wistful first single "Nine in the Afternoon" stick in the head after a single hearing. Also the token acoustic strumalong is called "Folkin' Around". Whether their fanbase actively craved such a diverse display of ambition is moot, but Pretty.Odd. is an impressive and deservedly popular collection. For once it seems that the public agree with those critics who so often describe lovingly crafted, low-selling tributes to genres past as perfect pop. --Steve Jelbert

Producing and editing a masterwork of recorded music is obviously a specialized art form. But so is the entertainment lawyer's act of drafting clauses, contracts, and contractual language generally. How might the art of the entertainment attorney's legal drafting a clause or contract affect the musician, composer, songwriter, producer or other artist as a practical matter? Many artists think they will be "home free", just as soon as they are furnished a draft proposed record contract to sign from the label's entertainment attorney, and then toss the proposed contract over to their own entertainment lawyer for what they hope will be a rubber-stamp review on all clauses. They are wrong. And those of you who have ever received a label's "first form" proposed contract are chuckling, right about now.

Just because a U.S. record label forwards an artist its "standard form" proposed contract, does not mean that one should sign the draft contract blindly, or ask one's entertainment lawyer to rubber-stamp the proposed agreement before signing it blindly. A number of label forms still used today are quite hackneyed, and have been adopted as full text or individual clauses in whole or in part from contract form-books or the contract "boilerplate" of other or prior labels. From the entertainment attorney's perspective, a number of label recording clauses and contracts actually read as if they were written in haste - just like Nigel Tufnel scrawled an 18-inch Stonehenge monument on a napkin in Rob Reiner's "This Is Spinal Tap". And if you are a musician, motion picture fan, or other entertainment lawyer, I bet you know what happened to Tap as a result of that scrawl.

It stands to reason that an artist and his or her entertainment lawyer should carefully review all draft clauses, contracts, and other forms forwarded to the artist for signature, prior to ever signing on to them. Through negotiation, through the entertainment attorney, the artist may be able to interpose more precise and even-handed language in the contract ultimately signed, where appropriate. Inequities and unfair clauses aren't the only things that need to be removed by one's entertainment lawyer from a first draft proposed contract. Ambiguities must also be removed, before the contract can be signed as one.

For the artist or the artist's entertainment attorney to leave an ambiguity or inequitable clause in a signed contract, would be merely to leave a potential bad problem for a later day - particularly in the context of a signed recording contract which could tie up an artist's exclusive services for many years. And remember, as an entertainment lawyer with any longitudinal data on this item will tell you, the artistic "life-span" of most artists is quite short - meaning that an artist could tie up his or her whole career with one bad contract, one bad signing, or even just one bad clause. Usually these bad contract signings occur before the artist seeks the advice and counsel of an entertainment attorney.

One seemingly-inexhaustible type of ambiguity that arises in clauses in entertainment contracts, is in the specific context of what I and other entertainment lawyers refer to as a contract "performance clause". A non-specific commitment in a contract to perform, usually turns out to be unenforceable. Consider the following:

Contract Clause #1: "Label shall use best efforts to market and publicize the Album in the Territory".

Contract Clause #2: "The Album, as

delivered to Label by Artist, shall be produced and edited using only first-class facilities and equipment for sound recording and all other activities relating to the Album".

One shouldn't use either clause in a contract. One shouldn't agree to either clause as written. One should negotiate contractual edits to these clauses through one's entertainment lawyer, prior to signature. Both clauses set forth proposed contractual performance obligations which are, at best, ambiguous. Why? Well, with regard to Contract Clause #1, reasonable minds, including those of the entertainment attorneys on each side of the transaction, can differ as to what "best efforts" really means, what the clause really means if different, or what the two parties to the contract intended "best efforts" to mean at the time (if anything). Reasonable minds, including those of the entertainment lawyers on each side of the negotiation, can also differ as to what constitutes a "first-class" facility as it is "described" in Contract Clause #2. If these contractual clauses were ever scrutinized by judge or jury under the hot lights of a U.S. litigation, the clauses might well be stricken as void for vagueness and unenforceable, and judicially read right out of the corresponding contract itself. In the view of this particular New York entertainment attorney, yes, the clauses really are that bad.

Consider Contract Clause #1, the "best efforts" clause, from the entertainment lawyer's perspective. How would the artist really go about enforcing that contractual clause as against a U.S. label, as a practical matter? The answer is, the artist probably wouldn't, at end of day. If there ever were a contract dispute between the artist and label over money or the marketing expenditure, for example, this "best efforts" clause would turn into the artist's veritable Achilles Heel in the contract, and the artist's entertainment attorney might not be able to help the artist out of it as a practical matter:

Artist: "You breached the 'best efforts' clause in the contract!"

Label: "No! I tried! I tried! I really did!"

You get the idea.

Why should an artist leave a label with that kind of contractual "escape-hatch" in a clause? The entertainment lawyer's answer is, "no reason at all". There is absolutely no reason for the artist to put his or her career at risk by agreeing to a vague or lukewarm contractual marketing commitment clause, if the marketing of the Album is

perceived to be an essential part of the deal by and for the artist. It often is. It would be the artist's career at stake. If the marketing spend throughout the contract's Term diminishes over time, so too could the artist's public recognition and career as a result. And the equities should be on the artist's side, in a contractual negotiation conducted between entertainment attorneys over this item.

Assuming that the label is willing to commit to a contractual marketing spend clause at all, then, the artist-side entertainment lawyer argues, the artist should be entitled to know in advance how his or her career would be protected by the label's expenditure of marketing dollars. Indeed, asks the entertainment attorney, "Why else is the artist signing this deal other than an advance, marketing spend, and tour support?". The questions may be phrased a bit differently nowadays, in the current age of the contract now known as the "360 deal". The clauses may evolve, or devolve, but the equitable arguments remain principally the same.

The point is, it is not just performers that should be held to performance clauses in contracts. Companies can be asked by entertainment lawyers to subscribe to performance clauses in contracts, too. In the context of a performance clause - such as a record label's contractual obligation to market and publicize an album - it is incumbent upon the artist, and the artist's entertainment attorney if any, to be very specific in the clause itself about what is contractually required of the record company. It should never be left to a subsequent verbal side conversation. In other words, working with his or her entertainment lawyer, the artist should write out a "laundry-list" clause setting forth each of the discrete things that the artist wants the label to do. As but a partial example:

Contract Clause #3: "To market and publicize the Album in the Territory, you, Label, will spend no less than 'x' U.S. dollars on advertising for the Album during the following time period: ____________"; or even,

Contract Clause #4: "To market and publicize the Album in the Territory, you, Label, will hire the ___________ P.R. firm in New York, New York, and you will cause no less than 'y' U.S. dollars to be expended for publicity for and directly relating to the Album (and no other property or material) during the following time period: _____________".

Compare Clauses #3 and #4, to Contract Clause #1 earlier above, and then ask yourself or your own entertainment attorney: Which are more hortatory? Which are more precise?

As for Contract Clause #2 and its vague unexplained definition of "first-class facilities and equipment" - why not have one's entertainment lawyer instead just include in the contract a laundry-list clause of the names of five professional recording studios in the relevant city, that both parties, label and artist, prospectively agree constitute "first-class" for definitional purposes? This is supposed to be a contract, after all, the entertainment attorney opines. "Don't leave your definitions, and therefore definitional problems, for a later document or a later day, unless you truly want to make a personal financial commitment to keeping more litigators awash in business debating bad clauses and bad contracts before the courts".

If you don't ask, you don't get. Through the entertainment lawyer, the artist should make the label expressly sign on to a very specific contractual list of tasks in an appropriate clause, monitor the label's progress thereafter, and hold the label to the specific contractual standard that the artist was smart enough to "carve in" in the clause through the entertainment attorney in the first instance.

Again, consider Contract Clause #2, the "first class facilities and equipment" clause, from the entertainment lawyer's perspective. Note that, unlike Contract Clause #1, this is a promise made by the artist to the label - and not a promise made by the label to the artist.

So, an artist might now ask his or her entertainment attorney:

"The shoe's on the other foot, isn't it?"

"'First class' in that clause is as vague and undefined a contractual standard as 'best efforts', isn't it, entertainment lawyer?"

Entertainment attorney answer: "Right".

"So, entertainment lawyer, there won't be any harm in me, the artist, signing onto that contractual clause, will there, because I will be able to wiggle out of it if I ever had to, right?"

Entertainment attorney answer: "Wrong".

The fact is, a contractual ambiguity in a performance clause is a bad thing - in either case - whether in the context of a label obligation to artist; or even in the context of an artist obligation to a label. The entertainment lawyer should advise that any contractual ambiguity in any clause could hurt the artist, even in the context of one of the artist's own obligations to the other contracting party. Don't rest on the linchpin of ambiguities in clauses when conducting business and relying on contracts - even if, in your musical art form itself, as Cameron Crowe once suggested of my first guitar hero Peter Frampton, you may happen to write "obscurantist" song lyrics while taking your own artistic license. Contracts need to be handled differently.

Here's how ambiguity in your own contractual commitment to a label hurts you, from the entertainment lawyer's perspective. The old-saw contractual principle of music "delivery" often finds the artist required to hand over documents to the label, as well as physical materials such as the album itself in the form of masters, digital masters, or "glass masters", in order to get paid. By virtue of a contractually-delineated procedure vetted by and between entertainment attorneys, the label may be entitled to hold some (or even all) monies back, and not pay those monies to the artist until "delivery is complete" under the delivery clauses and delivery schedule in a contract. As one might therefore guess, "delivery" is a definite event whose occurrence or non-occurrence under the contract is oft-contested and sometimes even arbitrated or otherwise litigated by and between artists, labels, and the entertainment lawyers and litigators that represent them.

It is incumbent upon the artist and the artist's entertainment attorney to prevent the label from drumming-up a pretextual "failed delivery" under any clause in the contract as an excuse for non-payment. In the context of Contract Clause #2 above, "first-class facilities and equipment" could easily become that pretext - the artist's Achilles Heel in the litigation-tested contract contested between entertainment lawyer litigators. The label could simply take the position through counsel or otherwise that the delivered materials were not created at a "first-class" facility as contractually required in the relevant clause, no matter what facility was used. Why? Because "first-class" was never defined in any clause in the contractual document by either entertainment attorney on either side, as any particular facility.

And if no clause in the contract explicitly defined "first class" as an entertainment lawyer would have advised that it should do, then the artist could well be out the money, at least for the entire duration of an eminently avoidable multi-year litigation over what 2 dumb words mean. Worse yet, meanwhile, the label might be holding the money and laughing at the artist behind the artist's back for his or her lack of contractual prescience. From the artist-side entertainment lawyer's perspective, both of those horror-show possible eventualities and scenarios, are intolerable. They could have been avoided by a single, better clause - often the narrow reed upon which an artist's success ultimately rests. (Ask Billy Joel. Ask Neil Young. Ask Bruce Springsteen. Ask George Michael. Ask John Fogerty).

What about prescience? How can this foreseeable contractual delivery dispute in the context of Contract Clause #2, be avoided by the entertainment lawyer? The simple solution in this case, again, is for the artist's entertainment attorney to take a few extra minutes during the negotiations, and textually list-out, in a reply draft counter-proposed contract sent to the label, even if a single succinct clause, the actual facilities intended to be used. The artist-side entertainment lawyer can seek to make the label explicitly contractually pre-agree to the list of facilities, by name and address, in the body of the contract's text. That is what a contract is for, anyway, as an entertainment attorney will tell you. When used correctly, a contract and its clauses really just comprise a dispute-avoidance tool. An entertainment contract should be a dispute-avoidance tool exchanged between entertainment lawyers. Also note that a contractual ambiguity in a clause could hurt an artist, regardless of whether it is embedded in one of the artist's performance obligations, or even in one of the label's performance obligations! The moral?: List all performance obligations. Break them down into discrete and understandable tasks, clause by clause. Approach it the same way an entertainment attorney would. Better yet - enlist the assistance of one before forming an opinion about the clauses or signing the contract.

Dance, drama and music that are performed in front of many people or audiences are known to belong in performing arts. This type of art is different from plastic arts which only involve several artworks made from different type of materials like clay, paint, wood and metal. These artworks are often created by many artists and are displayed during exhibits but unlike performing arts, the presence of the artists is not required or is not necessary at all. When it comes to performing arts, the artists themselves together with their performances are the ones that the audiences are interested in. These people are then commonly known as performers.

This type of art is not new to the society because this has been around for so many years now. It actually started centuries ago. This type or art is even more common in schools all over the world and it often involves a number of people who all have the passion to please the crowd by showcasing their talents. By wearing a huge variety of costumes, wigs, masks, foot wears and other accessories, an artist becomes/transforms to a totally different person in front of the crowd and then performs.

As mentioned earlier, there are three branches of performing arts - the dance, drama and music. The first type of performing arts is dance which basically refers the movements of the human body using a particular rhythm. Performing a dance is not only intended to please the crowd but it is also a way to express the performer's sentiments. It is also a way of showing the people different types of cultures or telling them about the history of a certain place. A dance can be in several forms like folk dance, ballet and many more.

Another branch of performing arts is the drama which is mainly about acting in front of the people. In a drama, the performers act out a particular story in order to entertain their audience. Aside from acting, music, dance, sound, speeches and other elements of performing arts are used for the best performance.

And the last branch of performing arts is music. Music does not only refer to the musical instruments or the sounds that they make, it also involves the people who play the instruments and the voices of the people singing. Music basically started several years ago and from then it became one of the most popular ways to entertain people. Usually, there are four things which make music complete - the pitch, rhythm, dynamic and the timbre.

Each of the branches of performing arts plays a very important role in the entertainment world. All these things make performing arts complete and very interesting. Not only because it is a very good way to entertain people but because this is also a way for other people to see the skills and talents of the performers. It is also a very good way to let the whole world know on what are the things that the performers can do and offer.

Richard Simmons Dance Your Pants Off! [VHS]Richard Simmons, the great motivator, presents another light-intensity, low-impact, high-energy workout in the style of his popular Sweatin' to the Oldies series. Again live music is the focus--this time 1980s dance hits such as "Celebration," "Flashdance," "Gloria," "She Works Hard for the Money," and "Call Me." Just like in the Sweatin' videos, Simmons leads a large class of people of both genders and all shapes and sizes--all having the time of their lives dancing, singing, and cheering (their noisiness may grate on you after a while). Richard wears his signature shorts and tank top, and his followers wear multicolored casual clothes. The message is that it doesn't matter how you look or how much you weigh--just show up and dance! The dance-style choreography is matched to the music, but no moves require much coordination or memory. Simmons barely cues the changes--just watch and follow. This tape is a lot of fun, especially if you remember this music well enough to sing along! At the end of the tape, the performers dance down the center while we read their names and the amount of weight they've lost. Several have lost more than 100 pounds, and one woman has lost 282 pounds! (No, that's not a misprint.) Simmons is to be applauded for making exercise accessible and enjoyable to a whole population of people who didn't know that workouts could be fun. --Joan Price

Modern art, incorporates canvas art, sculpture, print, and all the other new forms of twentieth century art. Scholars and historians rarely agree, as to the exact point when modern art began. Therefore, the term generally refers to all art, produced in America and Europe, during the nineteen hundreds. In addition to a hand full of other countries, which were primarily influenced by the West. This was a time when Artists were introducing new materials, new techniques and new concepts. It was the intention of those Artists to break free from the restraints of the 'establishment', and redefine the boundaries of art. Without doubt, one of the most important and innovative 'inventions' of twentieth century art was Cubism, and the concepts of abstraction. Pablo Picasso is considered to be, probably, the most important artist of the twentieth century. His work was highly influential, and he is regarded as the creator of Cubism.

Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga, mainland Spain. Pablo Picasso was a child prodigy, by the age of fourteen his technical skill was incredible. In 1895, his father became an art teacher at the Academy of Fine Art in La Coruña. Picasso was entered into the advanced classes quickly. He completed the entrance exam, which took most at least a month, in one day. Two years later, he began to study at the Madrid Academy. Picasso left soon after, dissatisfied, and returned home. Between 1900 and 1904, Picasso shifted between Paris and La Coruña. After four years of moving back and forth, Picasso finally made his home in Paris. This would be where he would live and work for most of his life.

From 1904, Picasso encountered many different art forms, showing great interest in the style of Henri Toulouse and African Art. Since his first visit to Paris, Picasso loved to paint the Parisian nightlife and café scenes, which generally, included a menagerie of circus performers and social outcasts. Some feel that Picasso was displaying empathy with the entertainers and outcasts he portrayed, like the Clown. The Clown is recognized inside the Big Ring, yet falls into obscurity, the second he removes his Clown face. Society pays the Clown to be entertained. Nobody is particularly interested in his real face, or feelings. Before Artists broke free of those Artistic restrictions, which had previously bound them, there was little difference between the Clown, and the Artist.

Towards the end of 1905, Picasso's work passed through many rapid changes in style. There was a notable withdraw from emotional content. The melancholy thoughts of the outcast, was replaced by reason. Picasso began to study early century sculpture from the Iberian peninsula. His fascination with Iberian sculpture reflected his increased interest in simplified, geometric forms. Picasso's had a preference for experimentation. He also had a keen interest in Art, which lay outside the realms of the establishment. By 1907 he had produced one of the most revolutionary oil paintings of the twentieth century; Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. The influence of both his native Iberian sculpture, and African Art is paramount in this work. The painting is greatly simplified, with oval forms, the faces and figures of this painting are incongruent. This piece was extremely adventurous for 1907.

The incongruities of Les Demoiselles d'Avignon proved too much for many of Picasso's contemporaries. Matisse is even believed to have accused Picasso of ridiculing the new, modern art movement. Curiously, today, many art historians and scholars regard this piece as the beginning of Cubism. The year of 1907 is also known to many as Picasso's African period. At first, Picasso rebuked the analogy of his work with African Art. However, later, he agreed that African Art had been greatly influential upon him, and his work. While some scholars believe that African Art was the primary catalyst for this rapid and drastic change in form and style, others believe it was Cézanne who provided this catalyst.

From 1907, until around 1917, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque developed and experimented with their new art concept, dubbed by the critics as Cubism. Most art historians and scholars will usually split that development into two dynamic stages. The first stage is referred to as Analytical Cubism. This describes the method of dissecting three dimensional forms, depicting them as multiple geometric planes. Synthetic Cubism sought to achieve the opposite. Instead of dissecting the form, they would create it using geometric planes. Picasso worked much, throughout his life, with the human figure and still life. Even today, we continue to analyze and enjoy his work. Without doubt, he was one of the most influential and innovative artists, of twentieth century modern art.
