Ceramic tiles have been around for many years and it will certainly be around for many more years to come. Ceramic tiles have been designed by people since about four thousand years ago. The people who once lived that long ago used them for beautifying their living spaces as well as using them for functional building parts. Ceramic tile art became a much desired effect of many homes through out centuries of time, even to this day and time. Tile art can be used to liven up some thing as small as a kitchen counter top all the way up to the appearance of the outside of a home or business.

The famous Greek cities that have been in all the history books were well known for using ceramic tile art as a great form of expression. Tile art has been found all over the world in places like Spain and even Egypt. Tiles have been used all over the country for a numerous amount of reasons with tile art being one of the most common reasons. Ceramic tile is nothing more than pieces of clay that were shaped and baked. Originally these pieces of clay were baked with nothing more than the heat from the sun, much like the bricks that have been used for ages to build houses. Once these tiles are shaped they can either be baked to a point where they become glazed or they can merely be baked to display a more plain appearance.

Mosaic art is one of the most popular forms of art, mostly because of the detail and the vivid designs that can be made with this form of tile art. Tiny tiles are put together in the most intricate ways possible to form one whole piece of art that can be utterly amazing. There are those who like the hand painted style of art far better than the mosaic form. This can be be done too. The English people were once said to be some of the best people to design tiles and because of this many walls and homes and other forms of decorations began to display more and more tiles as an art form.

Today you will see that more homes have used ceramic tile art in their kitchens due to the fact that surfaces of these tiles are not very porous which allows for very few germs to be left behind on the surface. In today's society we strive to be more functional in our homes. This brings people to make decisions which allow for multiple uses for our decorations and home designs. Tile art has proven to be a huge success in this area no matter which way you look at it. People can have a one of a kind design counter top that not only looks amazingly beautiful but also keeps the typical kitchen germs to a minimum. Ceramic tiles are also very good for a kitchen due to the fact that they do not show damage from knives or other wear and tear very easily. Possibilities are truly at your imaginations limits with ceramic tile art.

The Money Shot

6:34 AM

Artists, producers and directors pour huge amounts of money, talent and creativity into an average 3 minute pop video nowadays. No longer just 'promos', modern videos have elevated themselves to the status of an art form on an equal footing with the music itself. Michael Jackson of course has made many hugely extravagant videos for his singles over the years, while in the 1990's rap star MC Hammer spent millions on his own efforts. Other masters of the medium include the Backstreet Boys, Will Smith, Britney Spears and Guns N' Roses, who have all had an impact on the fickle world of MTV over the years, with their expensive mini epics.

So what makes music videos so important? Is it really necessary to go to such lengths to make a song memorable by producing videos that oupriced Hollywood in terms of production cost per minute? Let's take a quick look at some of the most expensive music videos ever made and see if we can find some clues.

Too Legit to Quit (1991)
One of the 1990's most popular artists would have to be MC Hammer, the rapper who gave us such mega hits as "U Can't Touch This" and "Pray". Hammer was huge and his equally voluminous parachute pants became a fashion trend. After the success of his multi-platinum Please. Hammer. Don't Hurt 'Em album in 1990, the next year saw MC Hammer releasing his sophomore effort, Too Legit To Quit. The first single from this album was the title track and Hammer blew a whopping $2.5 million on high profile athletes such as Chris Mulen and Roger Craig, who turned up in the video.

November Rain (1992)
Rock bands don't usually make big budget videos, however in 1992, Guns N' Roses put together an 11 minute video that cost a hefty $1.5 million to produce. The video was a narrative around the marriage of singer Axl Rose and model Stephanie Seymour and also included live concert performance footage.

Scream (1995)
A couple of years after Michael Jackson's first child molestation trial, the eccentric singer released his greatest hits set HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book 1 in 1995, which included the lead single "Scream" with sister Janet Jackson. The aggressive, vitriolic song was directed at tabloid coverage of the sexual abuse accusations levelled against Jackson. Choreographed by Michael himself, the music video for "Scream" cost approximately $7 million and is regarded as the most expensive music video ever made by The Guinness Book of Records. Michael spent around $5 million alone on the 11 futuristic spaceship sets that he and Janet are seen in. In addition, the video took almost 2 weeks to shoot and over $600,000 was spent on the production every single day.

Miami (1999)
Will Smith's "Miami" video was heavy on morphing special effects that cost him $40,000 a piece (and there were at least 50 such morphs featured throughout the video!). Video morphing from one location to another was an impressive technological feat at the time and Will hired a huge floating set in Miami at a cost $500,000 for just a few hours. The bill for this music video came in at $2 million.

Die Another Day (2002)
Madonna's "Die Another Day" from the 007 movie of the same name cost about $6 million to make and contains violent scenes that were censored in some countries. The video references earlier Bond flicks and features plenty of fighting shots and gun battles. Almost like a mini Bond movie itself, the post-production pushed the cost of this video into the stratosphere.

Toxic (2004)
Before shaving her head and spending time in rehab, Britney was the unstoppable Queen of Pop (and has now made a comeback). In 2004, Britney's "Toxic" single made headlines with its shots of the young diva dressed only in diamonds. "Toxic" was a No1 hit in The UK and Australia and reached the Top10 in her home country. The video employs various special effects that cast Britney as a super hero. The video clocked in at $1 million.

Stronger (2007)
Controversial rapper Kanye West joined the exorbitantly priced music video elite with this effort from 2007. "Stronger" is a unique Hip Hop track and its classy video suits it very well. Shot over nine days in Japan, the "Stronger" video took over three months to complete and cost $1.2 million. The video showcases plenty of unique visual effects and digital renderings of Kanye himself, along with featured singer Cassie.

Different people have different lifestyles. Recently, a survey conducted among our company, 80% found it impossible to make ends meet. There are many factors affecting the result. Such as different people have different lifestyle, different opinions about things, coming from different regions and so on. But in my opinion, I prefer the traditional lifestyle.

There is an old saying, "A lifestyle chosen is a mirror of one's spirit of life." So choosing a substantial life is very important. First of all, from my point of view, a working and saving lifestyle is a reflection of one's positive attitude. As we all know, the world is of instability. To save for a rainy day is never out of date, which can secure a comfort and carefree life in our old age. In our Chinese traditional culture, parents tell their children to be frugal since they were born, they plan their children future as well as they were born. This culture lasts for about five thousand years. So in this case, to save and prepare for the future is a wise choice.
In the next place, working and saving is a process of enjoying life. A philosopher once said, "Work banishes three great evils: boredom, vice and poverty." Working is a process of enjoying. For example, you can make more friends by working with others, you can learn a full knowledge about your major, you can experience another life which you haven't experienced before. Working plays an important role in our life, for most people, is more than a necessity. it is the focus of their life, the source of their identity and creativity. People work hard and as a result, they earn a lot of money, and at last they enjoy life. working hard and saving makes people feel fulfilled and build self-reliance.

Moreover, working hard and saving contributes a great to one's family and society. People can satisfy their family members with their savings. Another example is that, a nation's development can't do without material and wealth accumulation. We often heard some people donated their money to an earthquake happened countries, how this happen if they didn't save money and work hard.

In a word, the advantages of having a traditional lifestyle are much greater than the advantages we gained from the modern one. The whole society has the responsibility of educating young people, whether for the development of the society or for the their individual life. We should have a positive life attitude and a responsible lifestyle. This is my beloved lifestyle.

Flashlight photography is an emerging technique being pursued by photographers. Using a flashlight in photography allows a photographer a new avenue of imagination and creativity for the photographer. When used correctly, LED flashlights can mimic natural lights and create effects not possible in photo imagining and manipulation software. LED lights allow the light source to be directly controlled by the photographer's vision. The following are some basic equipment tips and techniques.

The Right Camera

The single-lens reflex camera, or SLR, uses a mirror to accurately reflect to the photographer the same scene that the camera does. The digital SLR, or D-SLR, has the same capabilities as the film SLR, but uses a memory card instead of film. Either type of camera is great for flashlight photography because you can adjust the shutter to a long speed, which is perfect for LED light techniques.

Tips and Techniques

It is helpful to use a lot of LED lights to get a good quality picture. These lights tend to be on the small side, and don't give off a whole lot of light. But don't worry - LED's are fairly cheap and you can get dozens of them for just a dollar or so.

LED flashlights are wonderful hard lighting sources, because the light is extremely focused. A photographer can use the LED flashlights by placing one or more flat on the ground in order to light up the bottom of an object or some other specific focal object. If you need lighting going upward, stack the lights on top of each other in tripod fashion.

Another way to use LED flashlights is to use self-adhesive Velcro to make a hook strap that wraps around the lens of your camera. Allow two extra centimeters slack for attaching some loop Velcro. Connect the loop side to the hook side with the adhesive side facing outwards. Next, attach the lights to the adhesive side one at a time until you cover the entire strap, and voila! You now have your very own lighting source for pointing LED light directly at objects, and you hardly spent a dime.

Natural Photography and LED Lights

Combining LED's with other flashlights, natural light or camera lights can achieve interesting experimental effects. Try using a flashlight held in front of your camera flash with no direct sunlight. The combined lights can add a natural warmness to your photo, making your photo interesting and unique. Another experiment is using different white balances through different colored gels or color filters in front of white LED lights. This technique can simulate several white balances of natural light. You can also use the lights to "paint" light across an image by using a slow shutter speed and sweeping the LED flashlight across the scene.

Using macro techniques, where the lens to subject distance is much closer than usual, LED flashlights allow the photographer to mimic and/or enhance night shots. This method can allow an aesthetic white balance in spot lighting photography sessions

Jacques Fath is one of the names you hear spoken about when people are referring to the big fashion houses of the 1940's and 50's. Born in France in 1912, Fath had a relatively short fashion career, as he passed away in 1954 only 17 years after his name had become known in the fashion world.

Coming from a creative family background (dressmakers, illustrators and painters), Fath taught himself how to design, he never sketched his work, preferring to drape material straight on to the body. Although he was originally trained as a milliner, he soon became more interested in design and showed his first clothing collection in Paris in 1937. He was well known and sought after due to his ability to flatter the female form, with fitted bodices that emphasized the curve of the bust and hip. He favored bright colors and his dresses often featured asymmetrical necklines and added drapery or pleats in the skirts for added movement.

It has been said that it was his work that inspired Dior's New Look in 1947, although that was something that Dior always denied. He designed Rita Hayworth's wedding dress for her wedding to Prince Aly Khan and ironically the model he used to make the dress would later be responsible for the break up of their marriage. He also employed some very talented assistants that would later go on to open their own fashion houses. Hubert de Givenchy, Guy Laroche, and Valentino Garavani.

Fath was very good looking, as was his wife, a former model and secretary for Coco Chanel. They were both huge socialites and extremely well liked in social circles. His constant partying was one of the reasons he was never given as much credibility among some of the other fashion circles. Sadly his life ended at the age of 42 due to leukemia.

His wife took over the company after his death in 54 but it stopped producing fashion lines in 1957. Since then the brand name has been bought by several different companies (including Loreal in 1992) has produced many fragrances and accessories. It was most recently purchased by French Conglomerate Alliance Designers Group and plans to release a new collection of handbags in 2011.

Wall Art and Decor

3:16 AM

Wall art and decor is important in your house because, art helps set the general mood of it's surroundings. Art decor also shows your style and allows you to make your house a home, customizing each room with a painting or picture. Adding style color and pizzazz to each wall will give your home character. Before you hang those paintings and pictures make sure to choose the mood setting that you want for your house, keeping style and color in mind. Each room should be done differently to show what the room is used for. Whether it be the dining room or the kids play room, it's easy setting the mood.

There are many different moods that your house can feel like, due to wall art and decor. When choosing a mood think of picture placement, and the color scheme you want to use. Different colors can make the room say let's rock or time to relax. If you want the living room to feel warm and inviting, you should have an earth toned colored wall, with pictures hung above the couch, that are bright and colorful. If you want to make the kids room seem Fun and happy have a bright colored wall with pictures of cartoons hung everywhere.

The style of the room is also important when making the decision of what kind of art decor you should place in the room and where you should place it. If you have modern styled furniture, in a dark color you should hang modern neutral paintings and black and white portraits, wall art and decor is used to tie a room together and show class and sophistication in this style of room. Style of furniture and the placement of furniture is a big part of making the decision of what kind of art to have.

When hanging, or painting pictures in a room, placement is the last decision yet the simplest to make. Placing pictures on a bare wall or even over a couch will catch the eye and start a conversation when you have company. When painting a picture onto a wall it is always good to first draw the picture out with a pencil first, this way if you change your mind it won't mean a repaint of the walls. With a picture or piece of artwork above furniture or on a blank wall, either hammering a nail into the wall or using thumb tacks, is the easiest and most common way.

When decorating a house wall art and decor is the best way to spice things up or cool things off. With a little style and color coordination you will make your home feel the way you choose. Bringing conversation and excitement art work not only expresses the type of person you art, but also shows your kid of style.. Art work is the simplest way to change an entire room, by placing a picture on a bare wall you have added something new for the eye to catch.

Float glass is made by placing the molten glass on a piece of molten metal. The end-product has uniform thickness and a very flat surface and the metal surface is usually tin, lead or an alloy that have low melting points. The float glass is generally used in residential buildings and industrial buildings that use contemporary designs.

The composition of the float glass includes sand, limestone, dolomite and soda ash, heated in an extremely hot furnace, about 1500 degree Celsius. The whole process is a continuous one and there is no stopping when the raw materials are combined until the end-product is obtained. The temperature of the molten glass is stabilized and placed on a metal surface, where it spreads across smoothly. The cooled glass is then passed through mechanical rollers to smooth it further. This is then cut into different shapes and sizes according to the requirements of the building. Various coloring agents and other materials are used to create the desired physical and chemical effects, along with the raw materials.

There are various companies that manufacture this material for the purposes of using them in buildings. Various raw materials, agents and chemicals are added during the process of making the glass to give it a desired look in terms of color, texture, etc. according to the requirements of the clients. Apart from the original version of float glass there are five other types manufactured, namely, heat strengthened glass, fully tempered glass, laminated annealed glass, laminated heat-strengthen glass and laminated fully-tempered glass.

The fabrication into windows is its most common use. It is also used in windshields and windows in cars and other automobiles, as mirrors and glass doors and siding panels in office buildings. It is better than other glass in terms of having a ripple-free surface and reduction in loss of slices. Tinted float glass is used where heat penetration needs to be reduced, create matching exteriors and enhance absorption and re-radiation function.

Float glass is also used as art pieces and used as a painting surface because it is cheaper than canvas. Various pieces of art are created on the surface to give it a rich look and are available in exhibitions and galleries.

Yippy today we are going to be learning how to make homemade candles. Making homemade candles can be such a fun and profitable hobby. I personally prefer to make my own homemade candles rather than just walking into a store and purchasing them, because first of all it's cheaper and secondly I can make my own candles to my own liking. Today I will be teaching you how to make homemade candles, the method I will be teaching you is very simple and ideal for beginners, so sit back grab a coffee and enjoy reading this article.

Before I Teach You How To Make Homemade Candles You Are Going To Need The Following Items:

1 Sheet of bee's wax (You can purchase this at any crafts store)
A Scissors
2 Long Cotton Candle Wicks

Now For The Fun Part Learning How To Make Homemade Candles

Now that you have all that you need you are ready to start making your very first homemade candles. As you may have gathered we are going to be making bees wax candles, the reason I chose the bees wax candle is because it's simple, quick and ideal for beginners.

To start of you are going to take your sheet of wax and fold it in half, after folding the bees wax you are going to unfold it, and you will now have a line down the middle of the sheet of wax. Using your scissors cut the wax into two, when cutting make sure you cut along the line that you made by folding the bees wax. You should now have two sheets of even sized wax.

Take one of the bees wax sheets and place it on a flat clean and even surface, You are now going to get one of your long cotton candle wicks and place it onto the bees wax were you had cut. The cotton candle wick should be sticking out the bottom and the top of the sheet of wax, now using your finger tips slowly but tightly roll the end of the wax around the candle wick and continue to do this till you have formed a candle. The heat from your hand will help to seal the candle. Now press along the edges of the candle to help make sure they are sealed.

Its time to get your scissors again and you are now going to trim the candle wick, make sure that you cut the candle wick flush at the bottom of the candle, and on top you are going to cut the candle wick so that it is at least 7mm long. Now take the candle and turn it on its side on a flat even surface, and roll it using the palms of your hands this is just to make sure that the candle is well sealed.

Now you are going to take the second sheet of bees wax and repeat the above process. And there you have it you have just learned how to make homemade candles.

If you are planning to host a party in one of the NYC Parks, be aware of their rules and requirements:

1. Special events permits are required for events/activities where twenty or more people will be present. School picnics, birthday parties, and field days all require a special events permit. There is a $25 non-refundable administrative processing fee for all special events permits and it requires at least 21 to 30 days to be processed (Different guidelines apply to demonstrations and rallies). Please plan accordingly.

2. While a permit does not guarantee exclusive use of an area within the park, it does give the permit-holder the right to hold his or her event in a specific area and ensures that other groups are not issued a permit to use the same space.

3. To install a tent, you must receive permission from the Special Events office, and you can't stake the tent into the ground. In Manhattan, tents are generally not allowed, except under very limited circumstances.

4. NY Parks don't provide access to electricity or water unless agreed upon in advance with Parks staff. For access to electricity, it is advised to applicants to rent a generator. Any other requests for services should be directed in writing to the Special Events office.

5. You will also need a Sound Permit from the New York Police Department (NYPD) if you plan to have amplified sound at your event and/or a permit from our Revenue division if you plan to vend/sell anything in the park. To get a Sound Permit from NYPD, you must first have your Parks permit, including permission from Parks to use amplified sound. When you have received your Parks permit, take it to your local precinct to receive a Sound Permit. NYPD Sound Permits cost $45.00, and you must apply at least five days in advance of your event.

6. Inflatables and mechanical rides are not permitted at any events in any of the boroughs.

If you wish to impress your pals with all your mind reading skills, in that case this trick is just simply what you need to learn! So that you can perform this easy card trick, you require to take out 25 cards from the pack and request someone from the audience to shuffle them and cut them as many times as they want. Soon after this, you must distribute the 25 cards out on a table, in 5 rows of 5 cards, face up, from left to right, in tight rows, resembling the structure of a grid.

The following step of the trick is to ask the individual from the audience to consider of one of the cards from one of the rows and then to share with you the row where the card is to be found. Right after they tell you this, make sure you make a mental note of the card at the left hand ending of the row. To continue with this trick, you need to simply collect the cards, starting off at the right hand card from the bottom row, placing this card on the card immediately on top of it and getting these two cards and putting them over the card immediately above, and continue doing this right up until the last card on the top.

You should then perform this exact same procedure with every one of the rows and at the end you need to have 5 stacks of play cards located exactly where was once the top row. Pick these cards up, and place the 5th card from the right hand pile over the 4th, subsequently this pile must be put on top of the 3rd, after which this one over the 2nd, and so forth, until finally you've produced one large pile of cards.

When you approach the conclusion of the trick, make sure you keep the cards with their face up after which deal them much like before, in 5 horizontal rows. You need to then ask the individual from the audience to tell you again in which row is their card located. After they supply this response, it is best to look either along the top or the bottom row for the noted card that was first in the row the person from the audience had mentioned. The card they had looked at should now be found either above or below in the exact same row to which they point now.

When you hit the clubs at the weekend, there's a high chance you'll be dancing to a genre of house music. Originating from Chicago in the eighties, it has taken over clubland in the last few decades.

House music has numerous subcategories, for example from electro house to drum and base or soulful house, but it is essentially the art of combining beats in to a more up tempo tune that features a base of drum and percussion sounds. House music is frequently known as dance which covers a whole range of styles too diverse to go into here. The bpm rate of house music tend be between 120 to 140. Some other sub genres are faster.

Learning how to produce your very own house music requires an understanding of basic beat structure and a flair for combining electronic tunes as well as having some equipment that will help you translate your ingenuity into a floor-filling track. If you wish to create your own house track, take a look at the tips below:

When it comes to selecting software applications for producing your track, you need to bear in mind the learning curve involved and select something that is easy to grasp. There is the hardware route and the software route. The former is probably out of most people's financial resources as building a studio is not for the faint hearted. However with current technologies available it's now possible to have a near professional quality sequencer and drum machine on your laptop. Numerous beat maker programs are now viable and I suggest this is the best route to take. These programs lets you build tracks visually hence much easier for the novice user. Some come with detailed how to videos so you can build a track right away and experiment with different samples and breaks.

Here are some of the features of a typical house composition. You'll need to have an understanding of the basics before constructing your first track.
Four on the floor, Basic 4/4 beats in barSnaresBass linePercussion?Vocals (depending on style of music)

The baseline is the most important part of the tune as this is where the rest of the elements will hang off. Listen to your favourite tracks and try to pick this out for yourself. Next up is the loops. This need to complement rather than drown out the baseline. House tracks commonly have high hats and snares that follow the 4/4 beat. Your track will be coming together but it may sound monotonous so you need to add some chorus or builds to add some variety and get the crowds going.

Just follow these basic guidelines as a starting point and the next track the DJ puts on can well be yours.

If you walk around any city centre late at night then you will see long queues of party-goers trying their luck to get into the latest exclusive nightspots that known to be extremely difficult to enter, unless you are in the know, possessing lots of cash or ideally both.

The key to be taken seriously is to look and act the part. You are never going to get into the club with a dirty face and missing teeth. You need to ensure that you are turned out perfectly, so when the man on the door gives you the once over he wont turn you away on your ear.

Preparation. This is the key to looking just right when you roll up to that nightclub everyone ahs been talking about. Give yourself plenty of time to prepare, rather than throwing on any old garment. You need to make sure that you are decked out in a formal high-end shirt, designer trousers and decent shoes. People often get the shirt and trousers right but overlook the shoes. This is a big mistake, the man on the door will always check out your shoes. Get your hair done properly and styled. I know it can be more difficult to sort out that your hair but turning up with whiter than white teeth will certainly impress. So if you are the type of guy who likes to wear tacky large gold rings and piercings then I am afraid you are going to have to remove them.

A decent timepiece. To get yourself up on the social status whilst you are in the queue for the new trendy club, get yourself a decent watch. I don't mean swapping your cheap digital for a gold-plated watch. To make a good impression try a classic Submariner. If you cannot afford these watches as they do run into the thousands then go for something that stands out. You can get many designer watches these days that certainly look the part and are a fraction of the price of a Submariner.

Confidence. It's no use turning up the club with your fancy clothes and designer watch if you have low confidence. For me this is the secret weapon in gaining entry into the top clubs. If you can charm the doorman then you have good chance of getting in and staying in. I would advise you not to turn up with a bunch of people also. Doormen do not like large groups of people trying to get in at the same time. Ideally go in separately from your friends or go in pairs, make sure though that they are also kitted out in their top garb, otherwise you would have gone to all the effort for nothing.

The final numbers are in... the cost of one 30-second television commercial during this year's Super Bowl XLV is $3 million (Reuters).

$3 million is quite a bit of money during the best of times; but in today's beleaguered economy, when the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics gauges the current rate of unemployment at 9.6%, it may feel irresponsible to some.

The Super Bowl is not just a football game... it is a cultural phenomenon that reaches far and wide within the United States. Last year's game was watched by over 106 million people (Huffington Post) and 20 million attended a Super Bowl party where they consumed 28 million pounds of potato chips, 1 billion chicken wings, 53.5 million pounds of avocadoes and 325.5 million gallons of beer (Despardes).

Clearly, the Super Bowl is big money; money that many advertisers believe is well spent. But, the value of investing $3 million on Super Bowl advertising this year may be considered irresponsible when one considers the health of our current economy.

One might ask: How could we use that $3 million in a more humanitarian way? Below are a few ways that advertisers could redirect those ad dollars to extend a helping hand to our neighbors.

? Feed 21,000,000 men, women and children facing hunger (Feeding America)
? Collect and care for 5,000 marine birds after an oil spill (Discovery News)
? Screen 30,000 women for breast cancer (CostHelper.com)
? Introduce the joy of reading to 1,500,000 children (First Book)
? Provide 3,000,000 people clean water for one year (CharityWater.org)
? Support 20,000 young men in Boy Scouts for one year (Boy Scouts)
? Offer food and shelter to 60,000 people for one day (Red Cross)
? Train 150 guide dogs to assist blind individuals (Service Dog Central)
? Save 52,930 acres of Amazon Rainforest (Ecology Fund)
? Grant 600 students a $5,000 scholarship

With 14.8 million U.S. citizens out of work, is an advertiser being irresponsible when they buy ad time during the most expensive time slot of the year? Many would argue yes.

Learning how to make your own candles might sound like a long and boring task, but it can actually be quite fun and enjoyable. There are a lot of people who are making candles from the comfort of their own home and actually enjoying this fun hobby. To day in this article I will be teaching you how to make your own candles from the comfort of your own home. I will be explaining one of the easiest and most fun methods that you can use especially if you are a beginner.

What You Are Going To Need To Make Your Own Candles

The method I will be teaching you is called the bees wax candle, so you are going to need to gather up the following items:

1 Sheet of Bees Wax
A Scissors
A Cotton Candle Wick

It's Time To Make Your Own Candles

Once you have everything that you need you are going to make your own candles, by starting with the sheet of bees wax. Place the sheet of wax on a flat even surface and fold it in half, once folded you are going to open the bees wax up again, now you should have a line straight down the middle of your sheet of wax.

Using your scissors cut the sheet of wax in half down the line or fold, now you should have two sheets of wax so you should be able to make two candles out of this. Take one of the sheets and lay it on a flat even surface, take your cotton candle wick and place it on the on the edge of the wax, were you had cut and sticking out half an inch from the top and bottom sides of the wax.

Now slowly and gently roll the bees wax around the candle wick, after you are done press the edge of the candle to seal it. The heat from your hands should help in sealing the candle. Now you are going to trim your cotton candle wick, at the bottom of the candle cut the wick flush, and at the top of the candle you are going to cut the wick so that there is about 7mm sticking out. Now take your candle and lay it on its side on a flat surface and roll the candle to help seal it.

It is obviously evident you have now made your choice to buy a musical instrument. Its purpose can either be for exercising what you already know or what you want to know. With money at hand, do not be very eager to rush to a seller. Think before you act. Whether you are aiming at getting an entirely new instrument or a fairly used one, think of the following ideas.

The best option is to seek for something new. It pays to have something original. Plus, you have that satisfaction that your item is of the greatest quality; given that you are the first to ever use it. But if you think that a brand new instrument will push you out of your financial arrangements, go in for a fairly used one. Some of these used devices are also of great superiority. You must also realize the modernity has made it possible for every person to set up a business of creating a company. With the prevailing hardship, most people will want to go for cheap but low quality devices (such as Chinese goods- without any prejudice).

Think of how much you have or will want to set aside for the device. Take not that all brands of a particular device will never be priced the same. An electronic guitar will not be the same as a simple one, or a trumpet will be cheaper than an oboe or a trombone. Electronic instruments will of course be more complex and delicate and they will be energy consuming.

Think about any possible repairs. How much will it cost to repair that particular instrument? Keep in mind that the compact nature of some instruments will make it almost impossible to repair. The cost of repairs of some instruments may equal half of the amount of the initial cost of the instrument. An example is a piano. Will it be easier for you to effect repairs? Note: most string instruments will only need a replacement of the strings, which you can easily do, than electronic instruments.

Think about the portability of that instrument. If you will have to move from time to time with your luggage, will it be convenient to move with your instrument? Handy instruments such as flutes and guitars will be easier to transport than large and often delicate instruments such as pianos.

Think about the size of the instrument. If you intend that your children play it, think of how they can easily move it, or if they are reachable to all parts of that instrument. Also ensure that they will have interest in that particular instrument.

To whom are you buying that instrument? If there is no previous knowledge about that instrument, will it be easier learned? If you intend that members of your household must make use of the device, be prepared for the cost of instructions. Keep in mind that wind appliances will be easier learned than the keyboard. Look for an instrument that is extremely common because instructors on it will also be frequent.

The only basic obligation expected from you is to make a thorough enquiry on what you intend to buy. It will cost you little or nothing in terms of the loss associated with making the wrong choice. There is information everywhere and at every time. Visit internet sites, libraries and music magazines.

Learn About Elves

3:32 AM

When you think of mythical creatures, you often think of elves. Quite different from the feelings that ogres and trolls evoke, elves are looked at as some friendly and hearty mythical creatures. Even during Christmas, you will see elves surrounding Santa Claus as part of the process of manufacturing gifts and toys. The following are some interesting things that you can learn about Elves.

1) The elves came from the same place a the Trolls, from Norse mythology. At first, Elves were viewed as some divine creatures that had magic powers. It is after that, that they became in two kinds, the evil elves and the friendlier and good-natured elves. The elves feature in other modern mythologies across Europe too. These are Germany, Iceland and Scandinavian.

2) In terms of looks, recent folklore depictions have them as some smooth faced creatures with immature looks. They normally live scattered around the hills, living under rocks or around wells.

A quick look at the elves and you will get the impression that they are not creatures that grow old. They will often have childlike mischief and are playful.

3) In the United States, Elves are mostly viewed as Santa's little helpers. They hang around the North Pole and help Santa Claus manufacture toys. They are normally clad in red and green.

Most of the Santa Claus movies of Christmas will have elves in them. They are the creatures that have pointy noses and long ears.

4) Some other variations of Fantasy Elves are those in productions such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. In the gaming scene, Dungeons & Dragons features them well. They normally look like neat and attractive creatures but are not physically gifted with strength.

5) Christmas Elves do not look so much like Elves. Most of them have very little obvious telling signs that they are elves. The only ones that even a politician would have a hard time defending are Elven and Elfin of the Keebler Cookies fame.

Are you the sort of person who would like to learn all the tricks after seeing a magic show? If so it is time that you learn to do magic tricks. The truth is that everybody can learn to do magic tricks. Box tricks amaze everyone and people like to try to find out just how you can make people disappear with a click of the fingers.

Box tricks, like all of magic tricks are always based on illusions. Although everyone is entertained they are really baffled at the same time. Box tricks usually make a person disappear after they are placed inside the box. The magician will tap on the top of the box and mutter some magic words and the person seems to have disappeared. The secret is based on the box itself. The boxes are made from a very big cardboard box that is made in such a way that the trick can be shown in such a way that the audience won't have a clue.

How to Make the Magic Box

Step 1: Get a box that has enough room inside for the person to sit in.

Step 2: Cut the bottom of the box's base. Don't forget to leave an edge on the three sides.

Step 3: Make the "false bottom" from another piece of the cardboard, and then fix it in the inside. And don't forget to then fasten it with a very strong tape.

Step 4: Fasten one piece of the cardboard cover and then color it with a dark color to add that bit extra.

Step 5: The magic box that you use will have a bogus base. That means that the box has no real bottom. This is to allow the box to be tipped forward without having to expose the person inside the box. The box slips over the person who is inside.

Step 6: The person will be tugging the "hinged" base closed by clutching its grip. The person will be blocked out at the back of the box. This type of trick is known as stage magic as the magician does it on a stage with an audience.

It has to be a smooth operation as you have to fool the audience into thinking that this could really be magic. The most important thing is that you need to divert your audience's attention from one place to another.

Box tricks are always fascinating to the audience so if you want to learn them, then you have to put a bit of preparation in beforehand. You have to make sure that the person fits inside the box and can also get out as and when required.

Music of the Heart

1:10 PM

One thing I love about being 50 is the massive amount of music I've listened to, sung and heard in my life.? I truly believe music can be compartmentalized into every decade, every year and every event.

Let me give you a case in point.? A few years ago Leslie and I got a couple tickets to go see James Taylor (amazing) at the Cricket Pavilion here in Phoenix.? A beautiful summer night under the stars with a real breeze (not common in Phoenix in the summer).? He came out, said hello and proceeded to make me cry for the next 2 hours.? The music went way deeper than my head and even my heart.? I could feel it in my soul, my gut, all the way down to my feet.? Nothing could contain my feelings or my emotions that night.? Why?? Not only did I know every single song that he played but every single song reminded me of some point and time in my life; the history of my life came alive that night.? You see when I was about 10 we went to the Indiana State Fair and there on this small stage was a dude named James Taylor singing a song called "Fire and Rain".? Then for the next 30 plus years he would write and perform 3 decades of music for me.? While I was in my teens struggling to grow beyond myself, while I was in my 20?s sorting out life, career and getting married, while I was in my 30?s in the Ministry wrestling with and fighting the battles of human souls, while I was in my 40?s raising kids who would become teenagers and young adults with their own brands of music (something I still don't quite understand).? Something happened to me that night.? I realized some of the "Music of my Heart".

Now I look for and listen to music not to fill my head or any void but because it's going to be a part of me for the rest of my life.? I think one day I'd like to think through the Top 25 songs of my life.? Let's see, there's CSNY, Sting, JT, Pink Floyd, Rush, Led Zepplin; then in the 90?s the great impact of Alternative music on my heart (just the early stuff, Nirvana and such).? All the phases between rock, jazz, blues, alternative, house, meditation, Christian; the times I think about current music and then music of the past and then realize there are whole sections of music I've missed out on and are just learning a decade later (e.g. Oasis)....etc. etc. etc.

But for now I sit here and listen to JT and Fire and Rain and remember and feel and am very glad... until next time...

From earliest history, man has nurtured an exclusive alliance with horses. They are fantastic, stirring animals that can be flighty, frisky and dramatic. Our use of horses has changed as man has developed. Originally untamed horses would have been backed to be used as a means of carriage. As time progressed humans would tame them, as man shifted from scrounger to producer.

Our dependence on horses for transport, for enterprise, shooting, warfare, and sport is just about unheard of and consistent with our relationship with the tail-wagger, notwithstanding dogs are more conventional in a household situation today.

And so it is neither extraordinary that toy steeds, in all manner of incarnations, have been a part of our development and as long as humans has ridden horses, children have toy horses. Since primeval life, it is probable that children would have aped their father on horseback, conceivably with a leg on either side of a pole and assuming to course, wage war or ride as a means to pick up foodstuff and provisions. As today, this playtime would be an necessary part of a kid's development.

As natural forging techniques matured, the timber developed to eventually be a hobby horse - an prepared "stick" alongside a wooden mare worked head and perchance some real horse whiskers as a hogback.

Full size dummy animals were adopted in medieval times to encourage knights foster their swordsmanship and jousting skills and to develop their "cavalry".

The rocking horse matured amidst the 19th centaury technical revolution in which time, all of a sudden, people started to become more opulent, had added leisure time and bulk forging methods developed such that rather complex horse models might be produced comparably cheap. At this point rocking and hobby horse type toys were constructed out of timber and supplementary "organic" material. So sought-after was the toy that Queen Victoria commissioned a dapple rocking horse from a celebrated builder.

So, up to the previous hundred years, we relied on the horse as a means of transport, for hunting, for hostilities and, as now, for recreational activity and sport.

Horse riding has been all-important to man's success up to really recently in historical terms - plainly the reason rocking horses are an lasting present and have a significant space in our hearts

Today, more improvements in production methods. for example vacuum technology, and new materials have spawned new types of rocking horse, starting with the inexpensive synthetic items made in the orient.

Timber rocking horses, whilst pricey, are still still made and time and again remain in the family for generations, not simply a toy but a splendid item of furniture to be admired and played with - when no one looking once the family have grown.

It is, additionally, curious to picture how the principal concept of the rocking horse can be used to alternative present-day childrens gifts. For instance, there are motorbike rocking horses being produced.

A additional technological development of the rocking horse is the mechanised riding trainer. These stretch from the "bucking bronco" style rodeo trainers which can be seen at fun parks, to serious horse riding riding trainers employed to coach riders at all levels out of danger. All of these products are based on the classic rocking horse

It is very clear that whatever technological change occurs, the simple hobby horse and items derivative of this are going to be with us for a long time.

Rocking horses are such amazing presents, and one of the truly animating toys which do not need a PC.

If you do some shopping around, you can find sold out tickets and while you may have to pay a bit of mark up, you should be able to find them for a reasonable price.

You want to beware of hidden fees when you are dealing with a broker. The best online ticket broker will not have any hidden fees and all of the fees will be disclosed from the very beginning. This is something that you will want to look closely for when you are looking for a good broker.

If you need more then one ticket you will want to look for the best online ticket broker that offers seats together. You may be able to find more then one ticket to a show, but they may be in separate locations and this is something that you will want to watch for. You will want to look for a broker that has seating together so you can be with the guests you take with you. If you do some research before you get started, you will be able to find a great broker that will provide the tickets you desire.

The best online ticket broker will be the one that is honest and practices good business ethics. This can be hard to find, but with a little research you will be able to find a great broker that you may consider doing business with in the future.

Michele DeVito started her soap opera career because her daughter had a crush on Jack Wagner (General Hospital). Both of her daughters, grown now, have artistic leanings. And one has a dream job that keeps her busy on Saturday nights.

Susan Dansby: At least one of your kids is in the industry.

Michele DeVito: Yes, my oldest daughter works for Saturday Night Live. About 17 or 18 years, she's been there.

How she got into it is -- I don't even know if it was interning. I brought her in one day - just to see what it was like.? Because it was because of her that I got this job.

Susan Dansby:? She was the one that was in love with Jack Wagner?

Michele DeVito: She was the one with Jack Wagner.

Susan Dansby:? (LAUGHS) Oh, that's great!

Michele DeVito: Amazing how everything works out.

Susan Dansby:? And is Janine's last name DeVito? And what does she do on Saturday Night Live?

Michele DeVito: She's the script supervisor/production manager.

Susan Dansby: Fantastic!

Michele DeVito:? She worked herself up through the ranks. In fact, here there was a nepotism rule. She did every aspect in the Business Affairs department. Then they saw what a good worker she was, too. She was temping, and there was a big joke about it. [They got around the nepotism, by letting her temp; but they couldn't hire her.] And they said, "Gee, Michele, do you still want to work here? For the company?" And I said, "Are you kidding? Sorry."

Susan Dansby:??'I was here, first!'

Michele DeVito:? But it's not really what Janine wanted to do. She then got a job at NBC where, just one day a week, did she help out at SNL. And then they saw how she worked. My gosh, they hired her. And she worked her way up in that control room right next to the director.

Michele DeVito:? She does the work of ?an AD [Associate Director]. She times the music. She breaks down the music for the musical guests. And she sits in the round table. She's very close with the writers where they have their "read-through," they call it.

And the cast is there. She has an amazing job. But it's hard work. I even said to her, "Janine, what about me?" She says, "Mom, I love you too much to have you work at Saturday Night Live." She said, "Mom, the pace." I said, "Okay."

But she also does freelance, she does concerts. She worked on the Macy's [Thanksgiving Day] parade.

But it all happened through this little circle of this wonderful genre.

Susan Dansby:? Well, I think that it's only appropriate that since she got you your job that your being there ?facilitated her learning more about the industry, and led to her getting the opportunity to be at Saturday Night Live - because obviously she's made her own luck in terms of her skills and talent.

Michele DeVito:? I'm really lucky, you know. And, Chris, my other daughter, loves to write music and plays guitar. But we all know, this is not an easy business.

Saying Goodbye to As the World Turns

Chris [Goutman] is the most incredible boss. I mean, he does a lot for himself. I have to say that he was really the easiest one - out of all my execs - to work for. It's funny, without mentioning names, some demanded more. Some, I would get more stressed out over.

But, Chris? Oh my gosh. I'm trying to think how long he was at Another World. I don't know exactly offhand. I don't remember the years. But he had to be there about four years when I worked with him then, before it went off the air in '99. I've been really so lucky.

Susan Dansby: So, I just have one last question for you, Michele. And that's what is your big takeaway from your experience specifically on World Turns? And you know what? You don't even have to be specific -your big takeaway in these 24 years in soaps?

Michele DeVito:? I wish I learned more. I do wish I'd had more time that I could have left my desk. Because my responsibility is to be at my desk. Chris, my boss, might get a phone call, or I might have to set up a conference call or something like that.

I wish that I had more opportunity to go into the control room -- to go down on set to see how the making of the show really comes together.

That's what I wish I could've done more. That's a regret. But as far as what I'm taking with me? The people. The people that I've met. It's like a family. Just happiness. I'm going to miss that most of all.

Is your husband watching porn to the point where it's disturbing your marriage? Are you feeling insecure and highly pained by the idea of him lusting after other, possibly more beautiful women - when you're begging and crying for his love and attention under the very same roof and in the very same bed he's sleeping and possibly fantasizing and having erotic dreams about them in?

Pornography is easily accessible these days - I would even go so far as to say it's almost mainstream. You can buy a girly mag in almost any supermarket, watch porn freely online, or even rent adult movies at the local video store so long as you're 18 and up.

I usually am of the belief that a couple should dictate their own rules and regulations in terms of what is and is not acceptable in their marital bed. However, if your husband watches pornography, this can be a sticky topic. When is he watching too much porn? And when can it get to a point where it can - or does - affect your sex life together?

While it is not immediately conclusive that your husband's pornography habits don't immediately signal cheating, there is something to be said for your lack of comfort in his actions.

If his porn bothers you, examine why. Do you feel sexually compared to or intimidated by the women that he looks like? Do they look nothing like you - which puts you off because it seems as if he's not into you sexually and physically? Are they doing things you would never desire to try out?

After figuring out what bothers you and why, determine how to talk to him about it and see how he responds. Hopefully he's understanding but explains that porn is his way of enjoying himself without you - that it doesn't even begin to reflect what he wants from you. Don't be surprised if he becomes defensive or secretive; porn can make almost anyone feel put off guard because it's such a taboo subject even its users don't openly discuss it.

If he becomes secretive, then allow yourself to cool off and understand that he might be ashamed. Try to put it out your mind, and simply tell him you'd like to see him save some action for you since you're ready and willing when he is. Being saucy about it allows him to feel less edgy.

Again, sexual desires are a private thing, so if anyone should know what pushes against positive or negative boundaries in your marriage, this should be kept between the two of you. I cannot personally dictate what's too much or too little or even acceptable for you and your husband, but I can encourage you to communicate with him about your feelings.

I agree that too much porn can ruin a relationship - especially if your intimacy and sexual experiences become limited and few and far between. However, I would hesitate to say that your husband is cheating on you because of porn. Most people define cheating as a physical or emotional act. In the sense that he's locking himself off to you, then yea, I can see this as a type of cheating - personally, I've dealt with this and it's a painful situation. Most men aren't aware of how their sexual actions with porn can shut us out, but I've rarely seen a guy whose into porn allow it to bring him to another live woman's bed or really desire it. These men usually look at porn as a release... and some use it to actually curb physical desires.

Try to speak with him first and see how he reacts before you drive yourself nuts. If you feel he's unwilling to change, or very defensive, then yes, it's possible that he's really wrapped up in pornographic and/or sexual addiction - but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. If he admits sexual interest in another woman or women, then yes, it's possible there's a link to his porn and his desires to cheat - but not that he IS cheating.

After successfully suing the Denver Police Department, I was hired and served six years. I resigned the department because of political corruption and moved to ...

The city was divided into 4 districts; we would not know our assignment until we graduated from the Police Academy. I did not want to work on the side of the city where I grew up. I knew there could be the possibility of me arresting someone I knew and I did not want that experience. I was relieved when I was assigned to district 2. District 2 was considered the west side of town; it was west of Broadway and north of Colfax Ave. The neighborhood was primarily Hispanic and Italian families. Each district has a number of precincts and a car assigned to each precinct. The cars had the precinct numbers painted on the side and the top of each vehicle.

The homes on the west side were a beautiful as they were on my side of town. They were built from the turn of the century to the mid 60's. The yards were beautifully landscaped some lawns looked as manicured as a golf course. Even the smallest of homes had beautiful yards; but like most cities there is always an area that is very run down and uninviting; the west side was not different.

My father had always talked about the organized crime families who lived on the west side. There had been gangland style killings in that area on more than one occasion in past years. While in the Police Academy, I learned that many members of the organized crime families had been convicted and the crime wars had subsided.

A few of my classmates were assigned to district 2 with me and we were lucky enough to get the same shift. Shifts were rotated every 3 months and I prayed that I would not get the grave yard shift and my prayers were answered, I got the 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm shift. We were provided with a list of restaurants and other establishments that we were not allowed to frequent either on or off duty. I was told by some of the officers that some of the restaurants on the list had the best Italian food in Denver; I did not ask them how they knew.

Rae B. McCall -- After successfully suing the Denver Police Department, I was hired as a Police Women in 1973. I worked one year in Uniform Patrol, two years in Traffic Division and 3 Years in Vice and Narcotics where I worked undercover. I also traveled with the FBI, DEA, CBI and was on loan to other police departments in the metro Denver area.

Inside Out is a book of true short stories of some of my undercover assignments. Purchase a copy through my website http://www.rmenterprisegroup.com/.

Learning to identify our bent nickel beliefs is much easier than most people think.

Bent nickel beliefs are what I call "flat-world" beliefs in that they significantly distort reality. For example, living our life believing that the world is flat in the 21st century is guaranteed to present us with some significant problems.

How about the bent nickel belief that we should always avoid conflict by never saying no. Can you imagine the problems that belief would cause if it was located at the base of our life?

Never look stupid. Criticism should be avoided at all costs. These two more common bent nickel, flat world beliefs are guaranteed to make life difficult at best.

Let's add another very common bent nickel belief. I must always correct others whenever I don't agree with them. This one is certain to bring some interesting problems into our relationships with others...and none of the problems will be pleasant to deal with.

See the pattern?

All of these examples are common bent nickel beliefs. It will be a rare reader that hasn't used one or more of these bent nickel beliefs at one time or another....probably within the last few days.

If we put any of these flat world beliefs at the base of our life there is no way that we can avoid pain, frustration, or a sense of powerlessness. There is also no way that these core beliefs could ever help us establish or maintain a healthy self-esteem or self-identity.

Bent nickel beliefs are simple to locate and identify in our thinking...simply look for the pain and unhappiness in our life. When we identify the pain in our life, we need to take the time to sit with it and own it as our own problem. If we are willing to be totally honest with our self, the bent nickel belief that is causing the pain and unhappiness will eventually become obvious.

Still having a problem identifying the bent nickel beliefs that are messing up your life?

We need to ask for help. Ask your spouse or your children. Ask a close friend. It's not unusual for those close to us to have clear insight into the bent nickel belief or beliefs that are causing us discomfort.

There's a good chance we may not like what they have to say, but be sure to thank them for their wisdom. Their insight could be the key to putting us on the path to happiness and success. In other words, don't kill the messenger or "yea-but" their suggestions.....especially when we have asked them for their input.

Remember, it takes great courage and commitment to change the way we think...but no matter how hard a person tries, no matter how many attempts they make, it is virtually impossible to build a successful and happy life when we have a bent nickel belief residing at the base of our thinking. So learn to embrace change. Be honest? with ourselves. Own our own pain. It's one of the most important gifts we can give ourselves.

What we learn about our self will only be useful if we are fully committed to being happy and successful. The insight we get may be interesting, but without a true commitment to change the way we think,? it will have little or no real impact on our life. It will simply be one more interesting idea that has no ability to help us achieve happiness or success.

There's nothing quite like enjoying a bit of culture in the great outdoors. Listed here are six fabulous outdoor performance areas where theatre and opera lovers can enjoy some of their favourite shows in style.

1. Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, London, UK

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre is the only permanent professional outdoor theatre in Britain. There are 1240 seats, yet people who've been there say that it is an intimate setting. Guests can enjoy wine picnics on the lawn or in their chairs, surrounded by fairy lights. On now is The Lord of the Flies, The Beggar's Opera, Pericles, and Crazy for You.

2. Miller Outdoor Theatre, Houston, Texas

Miller Outdoor Theatre offers diverse entertainment for free. There are musical concerts of every genre, including classical and jazz, dance, theatre, films, and more. Seats are covered which is ideal. After all, no one likes getting rained on or having the hot sun glaring down on their head. Families can also enjoy picnics on the hillside before or after performances.

3. Shakespeare's Globe, London, UK

The Globe is home to all of the great playwright's performances. Built as a typical Elizabethan theatre, it is absolutely stunning and an experience that should not be missed. Seated tickets have the privilege of being covered. Cheaper (£5) tickets require that audience members stand in the pit in traditional 16th century style.

4. Minack Theatre, Cornwall, UK

"Minack" in Cornish means a rocky place, which is perfect because the Minack theatre is made entirely of stone and is situated right on the sea. It is a very fabulous place to visit or take in a show. The theatre was planned, built and financed by one very ambitious woman, Rowena Cade.

5. Fondazione Arena Di Verona, Verona, Italy

This beautiful collosseum is home to many musical and theatrical performances, including La Traviata, Aida, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Nabucco, La Boheme, Romeo et Juliette, Madame Butterfly, Turandot, Carmen, Il Trovatore, Tosca, and Rigoletto.

6. The Crosby Theatre, Santa Fe Opera, US

The Crosby theatre has won a number of architectural awards for being state-of-the-art. It combines contemporary style with traditional building materials. More than the beauty of the theatre itself, guests can also enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, with the Jemez Mountains to the west and the Sangre de Cristo to the east.

Theatre and opera in themselves are enchanting, so to combine them with extraordinary views and stunning architecture, these outdoor spaces are able to create an exceptional experience that guests will remember and rave about for the rest of their lives.

Visiting art galleries and reading art magazines and books is great. But sometimes you just want to lie on your sofa with a cup of tea and relax watching a good movie. Now that it's winter, you might feel this desire more often. A movie can be an art form and when it is a movie about great artists and art, it's like watching 'art squared', so to speak. So don't miss out, give it a try - you won't be sorry.

Here is a list of movies about contemporary art to get you started. Some are old, some new, but all are really inspiring. I have listed the movies alphabetically, and I haven't given any of them a personal rating since as far as I'm concerned, all of them are worth watching. This is just to inspire you to watch these films, and perhaps move on to others afterwards.

Art School Confidential
Who said anything about talent?
IMDb rating: 6.3
Director: Terry Zwigoff
Production year: 2006
This movie is a comedy rather than drama, and it focuses on the story of an art student who had spent all his life dreaming about being a great artist. Although the film makes fun of the contemporary art world in many respect, it also shows its attractive side, and gives an idea of the dedication artists can feel to their work.

Basquiat
In 1981, A Nineteen-Year-Old Unknown Graffiti Writer Took the New York Art World by Storm. The Rest Is Art History
IMDb rating: 6.8
Director: Julian Schnabel
Production year: 1996
This is an absolutely unforgettable movie about American street artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. It gives you a deep view of Basquiat's world, his life, friends, love and works. Julian Schnabel is an artist himself, and so has personal experience of the world he's looking into, something that adds an unusual and meaningful level of validity to the movie.

Exit Through the Gift Shop
The incredible true story of how the world's greatest Street Art movie was never made...
IMDb rating: 8.2
Director: Banksy
Production year: 2010
It is brilliant movie, which keeps you guessing and puzzling right through to the end. At first sight you may think that the film is about street art documentary filmmaker Thierry Guetta, but actually it is about world famous graffiti artist Banksy. I won`t be surprised if after watching this film you want to hit the streets with a spray can.

Factory Girl
When Andy met Edie, life imitated art
IMDb rating: 6.1
Director: George Hickenlooper
Production year: 2006
Although the movie is dedicated to the life of underground film star Edie Sedgwick, and this aspect of it is certainly interesting, much of the appeal comes from his explored relationship with Andy Warhol. Watching the movie will give you the a fairly comprehensive impression of the Factory, a place where artists of any genre met and created what became a game-changing part of modern art.

Frida
Prepare to be seduced
IMDb rating: 7.3
Director: Julie Taymor
Production year: 2002
This is a fantastic biographical story about the life and work of an extraordinary and immensely strong woman, the well-known Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The film is like her works: colorful, full of love, powerful and unique.

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus
IMDb rating: 6.2

This is a sincere look at the iconic American photographer Diane Arbus and her real love for Lionel Sweeney, who helped her to become an artist who came to help define photography in the twentieth century.

The Great Contemporary Art Bubble

This is an extremely interesting BBC production, by a UK art critic, Ben Lewis. It will take you on a journey into the contemporary art world, with all its secrets. You will visit world famous auction houses and galleries, and even the homes of art collectors.

This is a documentary about Ray Johnson, who has been called "New York's most famous unknown artist," and is about the mysteries of his life and art, and of course his influence on the Pop Art world.

A film about life, laughter, and the occasional miracle
IMDb rating: 7.8

This is based on the fantastic true story of Christy Brown, painter and author, who could control only his left foot. It is the only film in this list that won 5 Academy Awards, - Best Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), Best Supporting Actress (Brenda Fricker), Best Director (Jim Sheridan), Best Picture and Best Screenplay (Shane Connaughton and Jim Sheridan). With that recommendation, how can you fail to give it a go?

Pollok
I thought I knew all the outstanding artists in New York and I don`t know Jackson Pollock
